Battery pack spot welding machines are widely used in the assembly line of lithium-ion battery packs. Because the battery spot welding machine has simple equipment, mature and reliable technology, and low equipment cost.
So, what quality problems may be encountered during the welding production process of the battery pack? What causes the quality problem?
Problem 1: The solder joints are burned through
The possible reasons for solder joints being burnt through are:
1.1 Excessive welding current.
1.2 Electrode pressure is too high.
1.3 The electrodes are too dirty, or the nickel strip and battery are too dirty.
1.4 The electrode tip is in poor contact.
1.5 The nickel strip is defective.
1.6 The material and thickness of the nickel strip are too different.
Problem 2: The solder joint indentation is too large
2.1 Excessive welding current.
2.2 Electrode pressure is too high.
2.3 The end face of the electrode is too small in diameter or deformed.
2.4 The end faces of the two electrodes are not parallel.
Problem 3: The solder joints are too small or not strong enough
3.1 The welding current is too small.
3.2 The electrode pressure is too high.
3.3 The electrodes are too dirty, or the nickel strip and battery are too dirty.
3.4 The welding time is too short.
3.5 Poor contact of the welding circuit.
3.6 The material and thickness of the nickel strip are too different.
Question 4: The solder joint has burn marks or scratches
4.1 Excessive welding current.
4.2 The electrode pressure is too low.
4.3 The electrode end face is dirty.
4.4 Poor cooling of the electrode tip.
4.5 The electrode end face is roughened.
4.6 The nickel strip are defective.
Question 5: Large spatter during welding
5.1 Excessive welding current.
5.2 Insufficient electrode pressure.
5.3 The electrodes are too dirty, or the nickel strip and battery are too dirty.
5.4 Poor cooling of the electrode tip.
5.5 The material and thickness of the nickel strip are too different.
Problem 6: There are cracks in the solder joints
6.1 Excessive welding current.
6.2 Insufficient electrode pressure.
6.3 The nickel strip and battery are too dirty.
6.4 The two electrodes are not aligned.
6.5 The nickel strip is defective.
In summary, the lithium-ion battery spot welding machine may encounter various problems during use, and the reasons are also various. Choosing high-quality battery pack spot welding machine and nickel strip is the basis, and doing all the preparations before welding is the focus.
